Refund & Cancellation Policy

1. Platform Role

LeanPivot Payments is a marketplace platform that connects merchants (founders) with their customers. LeanPivot Payments does not sell goods or services directly and does not set refund terms for individual merchant transactions.

Each merchant on LeanPivot Payments is an independent business with their own Stripe account. Merchants are responsible for establishing, publishing, and honoring their own refund and cancellation policies.

2. Merchant Obligations

As a merchant using LeanPivot Payments, you agree to:

  • Clearly communicate your refund and cancellation terms to your customers before purchase
  • Process refunds promptly when your policy or applicable law requires it
  • Respond to customer refund inquiries within a reasonable timeframe
  • Comply with all applicable consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction
  • If selling physical goods, clearly disclose shipping timelines, return windows, and any restocking fees in your product listing or checkout flow

Merchants can issue full or partial refunds directly from the LeanPivot Payments dashboard. Refunds are processed through Stripe and typically appear on the customer's statement within 5–10 business days.

3. For Buyers (End Customers)

If you purchased a product or service through a LeanPivot Payments merchant and need a refund:

  • Step 1: Contact the merchant directly. The merchant's refund policy governs your transaction.
  • Step 2: If you cannot reach the merchant or the merchant refuses to honor their stated policy, contact us at support@leanpivotpayments.com and we will assist in mediating.
  • Step 3: If the issue remains unresolved, you may file a dispute (chargeback) with your card issuer as a last resort.
4. Disputes & Chargebacks

When a buyer files a dispute (chargeback) with their card issuer, Stripe will notify the merchant through the LeanPivot Payments dashboard. The merchant is responsible for responding to the dispute with appropriate evidence.

A $15.00 dispute fee is charged per chargeback, as outlined in Section 6.2 of the Connected Account Agreement. This fee is refunded if the dispute is resolved in your favor.

Processing fees on refunds: When a merchant issues a refund, Stripe's processing fee from the original transaction is not returned. The platform application fee is refunded to the buyer. Merchants should factor this into their refund policies.

We strongly encourage merchants and buyers to resolve refund requests directly before initiating a formal dispute.

5. Platform Subscription Cancellation

LeanPivot Payments does not charge subscription fees. The marketplace minimum fee ($2.50/month) is waived in any month where sales exceed $250. If you wish to close your LeanPivot Payments account:

  • Ensure all pending orders are fulfilled and all outstanding refund requests are resolved
  • Contact support@leanpivotpayments.com to request account closure
  • Your Stripe Connected Account can be managed independently through Stripe Dashboard
